It isn't offensive, and it isn't horrible

Here are a couple of tips, if you are an easily offended religious person, don't watch this show. If you are an easily offended gay person, don't watch this show. If you are an easily offended anorexic person, don't watch this show. Actually, let's just sum it up and say that if you are that easily offended by anything, don't watch this show, and maybe you should avoid other shows as well, I mean jokes nowadays are so offensive, wouldn't want to risk getting triggered.
Also, if you aren't a fan of the show, that's fine, but some people (such as myself) do enjoy it, and there's no need to be a dick about the fact that you didn't happen to enjoy a sitcom. Yes, it does follow the same formula as other sitcoms, almost every sitcom follows the same formula, especially the ABC Family ones. This show never claimed it was trying to start a revolution, IT'S JUST A SITCOM. Some people find it funny and some people don't.

I'm a not-easily-offended gay man and I just watched all three episodes tonight! I love it!

I'm a not-easily-offended religious person and I loved it too! Glad I'm not alone.

I'm a 70 year old Vietnam Vet and I think the show is entertaining and hilarious.

reply

Happy to hear that!

reply

Exactly, no one is forcing them to watch it. Some people just love to watch something they have no interest in, feel offended and then whine about it online.

I like this show.

reply

Haha exactly

reply

It's not offensive. It's not accurate either. It's not horrible, but also not that funny.

While I am very difficult to offend, I'm really tired of having the politically correct "gay is normal and you must accept it" agenda shoved in my face. The new show "Hap & Leonard" had the same deal on Sundance. It's not original, it's not groundbreaking, and this show just isn't funny. Its humor is forced. But enjoy the show while it lasts.

I just discovered all three episodes right now on Hulu and I love it. I can't wait for more episodes.

reply

Haha me neither

reply

I'm not easily offended but I want to be either provoked by something thoughtful or entertained. This offers neither.

If you want to watch it, watch it. If you want to talk it up, talk it up. But if someone finds it a waste of time why are they not equally entitled to say that?

This turkey sucked. That air time could be given to something worthwhile that would be provocative or entertaining. I hope it shortly will be.

reply

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and if you didn't like it, fair enough, I just don't understand the point behind complaining about something you don't like, rather than finding something you do, or the point in being an *beep* to people who do enjoy that thing (not that you are, I'm just saying).

reply

So you want to watch it and need to pretend that everyone else likes it to enjoy it? But you're concerned that other people are too thin skinned and can't handle being offended?

I don't want to be too facile about this but you must see the irony!

reply

I don't need to pretend other people like it, and I'm not offended if they don't, I don't really give a *beep* what other people watch. I am just confused about why so many people waste time complaining, or why they feel the need to be rude to people who do enjoy it, not because it offends me when people are rude, but because it's just unnecessary.

reply

If everybody on the message boards all liked the show wouldn't this place simply become an echo-chamber? Difference of preference is not complaining and voicing it is perfectly natural.

reply

Fanbois don't understand that. You have to either like something and rave about it or not say anything. It's the modern way of doing things. Other people, who might want to see how many people like and dislike something for whatever reason so they can decide if they want to see something or not, are not important to them. They only live for themselves and to show off their awesome reviewing skillz.

reply

I'm not a "fanboi", I just find that it's a waste of time to complain, people who complain about everything in real life are the most annoying people to be around.

reply

Like complaining about people giving their opinion i guess. You must find yourself pretty annoying themn.

reply

You make a good point

reply

I'm offended because I'm not gay, Catholic, or anorexic. I want my equal ridicule!

Love this show, though. The writing is great. I can't imagine anyone finding it offensive. Sitcoms that revolve around couples mocking and insulting each other are way more offensive than this. All three of the above-mentioned groups are so broadly diverse you can't generalize about any of them. This is just finding the funny in life, and so far is doing it well.

Movies are IQ tests; the IMDB boards are how people broadcast their score.

reply

Haha, totally agree
