So Much Hate...

... for a show that is really all about love.

The Real O'Neals is a very funny show. It is also surprisingly serious in its take on family relationships. No matter what, the O'Neals stand together and stand up for each other. Is it just like real life? We should all be so lucky! But as wild and crazy as they are, they are pretty good role models.

For gay kids coming out to the family isn't just scary -It can be life-threatening. It's a sad reality that many families reject their gay and lesbian kids and throw them out of the house (and worse). The Real O'Neals is a fantasy of sorts. Not a sexual fantasy, but the dream of what life could be like if love really did trump hate. Kenny is our main character, and his coming out process is what the show is about.

The writing is sharp and funny, and the cast is uniformly excellent. Haters gonna hate, but if you watch an episode or two with an open mind you'll see that it's just a show about being a family, and being there for each other.

You know what else I like? People like alvram who can disagree with you, and be friendly and polite while doing it. :)

We could use a little more of that around here... ;)

People love to hate.
Look at the human race and its history. It reveals we hate so well that the one thing we do everywhere on the planet is hate, kill, oppress, and hate some more. And nobody is exempt. But If you have more melanin in you skin or are not str8 you get an extra dose.
Oh,powerful women and the poor....don't want to leave the obviously oppressed out. People hate. And they complain! Lol. A muli-tasking kind of thing,...sad,but so true.

What to do. Be aware...don't feed into it .. and be smart and cautious. People put slot of energy into hating.

What gets me is the parents that would disown or throw a gay kid out of the house are most likely religious. I thought church was supposed to make you a better person. More loving and forgiving, etc.. Not knocking church going people but it's the truth.

Anyone that would disown their own kid just because their religious beliefs are more important to them are scum in my book. Like they choose to be gay. If this has happened to anyone in here reading this my heart goes out to you.
