Such familiarty

I've seen so many films with this exact plot more or less, so much so that even watching bits of the trailer evokes a sense of having seen this film before. Probably because I have, just not in Swedish yet, but in a few other languages for sure.

There are three cookie cutter plots in horror. One, the cabin in the woods group of friends reunite for some fun and relaxation that is cut short by a violent maniac killer.

Two, the successful writer in a slump who has recently lost someone goes to a remote villa for peace and quiet to write their next bestseller, but peace is not found and nobody is who they seem to be.

And three, the film we have here, A woman, vulnerable from suffering a recent severe loss in her immediate family, takes an apartment to start anew, but finds this place is not at all what it seems, that something dark lurks within the premises.

All three not an ounce of originality to be found. Just the same films being remade over and over and over for all of eternity.

I know what you mean. I just finished watching one on Netflix with the same synopsis. I am about to turn this off.
