Queen of Earth ripoff

Well, Ripoff is A harsh word I guess, but it's definitely heavily borrowed from.. That said, I felt Always Shine was A better made film, and if I didn't see Queen of Earth, I would've enjoyed it more..

reply

Agreed. Always Shines is much better and does not have excruciating verbal discourses to illustrate toxic relationships.

reply

Q.O.E did have some pretty painful dialogue to sift thru, you're right..

reply

I just saw Queen of Earth upon your recommendation, trombleykyle, and there were definite parallels between both films.

Both sets of characters had similar dynamics in their relationships and the tension between them was palpable. Q.O.E. had more of an ambiguous ending than Always Shine. Both movies stay in your head, but I'd have to say I enjoyed Alway Shine more.

reply

Yeah, I kinda liked the ending of queen of Earth a little better, tbh.. I'm a fan of ambiguity though, so I know not everyone will agree..

reply

Queen of Earth drags this through the mud tbh

reply

Like I stated earlier, I preferred QOE.. It's why I made it a point to give queen of Earth credit.. Only issue with Qoe was the dialogue at times..

reply

It's only in the start of film. Mainly because two female characters and setting. Thematically Always Shine and Queen Of Earth are different. Always Shine more like kinda Mulholland drive and in final act Altman's 3 Women.

reply

At least Queen of Earth is a good film compared to this crap. Knew the outcome 15 minutes in and it was never any suspense or excitment. Boring pos.

reply

I don't want to be too gossipy, but you have this entirely backwards. Just because you saw something first doesn't mean it was the original.

reply

Elaborate? From my understanding QOE came out 2 years before this.. Am I wrong? I'll be the first to admit when I'm wrong..
