The people that fat shame Whitney under the guise of health reasons

This post isn't about Whitney in particular but about anyone who is overweight. I noticed a lot of people feel that since being overweight is unhealthy, that that gives them a good reason to name call, criticize and use derogatory names. It makes me wonder if there was a show featuring someone who smoked cigarettes every day if they would be getting the same backlash. Since we all know smoking cigarettes is unhealthy yet the people who smoke them aren't called any derogatory names. I don't hear people complaining that they are promoting smoking. Where is the outrage for an equally unhealthy habit?

i think its mostly how season 1 started, it was about someone who was overweight cause of her PCOS.
But season after season she shows that's not the only reason.

One of her first physical trainers on the show even said it seems like her fork is more the issue.
and time n time again she will get in a situation where its obvious that her fork is main issue.

I see your point. Scolding obese people about health issues seems like a smokescreen since people generally don't worry about another person's health. If an adult is outside without a jacket in the winter or isnt brushing their teeth (and isn't family), nobody would say anything to a stranger. Homeless people sleep on the sidewalk and people step over them. Generally nobody bothers smokers except for stinky second hand smoke. And certainly nobody would approach an alcoholic or drug addict casually about their habits (unless you were a professional). Obese people, however are fair game for commentary from strangers.

It's a fair point that the kind of people who make comments on the street probably aren't concerned about Whitney's longevity. It may just be part of our herd instincts to make these comments. Gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins, but we generally don't call out sinners on the street.

It's socially acceptable to shame smokers; where have you been?

It is not, however, socially acceptable to tell someone to put their fork down and step away from the plate. Try it, and I guarantee you'll be met with hellfire and brimstone style backlash that you'd never encounter with telling off a smoker.

Parading about under the guise and banner of "health at every size" while being shown, time and time again, to be dangerously unhealthy and suffering from multiple problems directly caused by the excess weight...yeah, people will call you out on that.

It will be a health reason... for that horse - can't wait to hear about Whitney's glory days as a jockey (at the age of ten).

Whitney's show was supposed to be about someone with PCOS working hard to lead a healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, what the show became is a woman who is clearly not working, hard or otherwise, to lead a healthy lifestyle, but rather involving herself in a lot of manufactured drama meant to somehow obscure the fact that she's surrounded herself with enablers and is killing herself with food. So if the show was about a daily cigarette smoker who is trying hard to quit and maintain a smoke-free life, but instead we see someone smoking constantly, hiding cigarettes all over the place, making excuses for smoking (it's a special occasion!), and surrounding herself with friends who smoke and excuse her smoking, I'm guessing you'd see pretty much the same reaction to that person as you're seeing to Whitney.
