Where is Jonathan?

I see in the trailers a hot muscular David chasing after a princess...but the bible doesn't speak of that.

It DOES speak of David's love for Jonathan. They had a deep love, so much so, Jonathan's father forbade the two to be together.

1 Samuel 18:3-4
"And Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself. Jonathan took off the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow and his belt." (NIV)

Since people in those days did not wear underwear, Jonathan stripped himself naked in front of David. That would be considered extremely unusual behavior (then and now) unless their relationship was sexual in nature.

I can see why the religious folks didn't want to follow the bible in this story...

"Can you keep a secret? Can you know something and never speak of it again?"

David married Princess Michal, King Saul's daughter.

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

King Saul wanted to separate David and Jonathan because he was afraid of being betrayed by Jonathan. He was terribly jealous of David, who was praised by the people as a great warrior, far greater than King Saul. I know it's fashionable today to assume Jonathan and David were sexually intimate, but there is no indication of a sexual relationship in the text. Modern people who do not understand Near Eastern culture of the time mistakenly make that assumption. Also contrary to your statement, people of the near east did wear undergarments. Wikipedia has a good article on biblical clothing and specifically states that they wore linen undergarments, and has citations to back it up. So Jonathan was not naked; rather, he stripped off the symbols of his office of Prince and gave them to David, to indicate that he believed David should be king. Jonathan loved David like a brother. This is the reason Saul wanted to separate them - he was seeking to prevent his own overthrow.

People also showered on rooftops in Bible. Do people do that these days? No. Applying practices from those times does not translate well to modern times. I don't see any ladies getting their hands cut off if they touch a mans crotch either.

Nice try.

David hasn't even become a warrior yet in the continuity of the show. David and Jonathan's military careers will probably run parallel.

I wondered if this show was going to keep the David/Jonathan dynamic - I guess it hasn't shown up yet? Someone will have to tell me, because I don't really want to watch hours of squicky violence and "Look at us, we're like 'Game of Thrones'!" gore to get to that friendship. Ick.
