You don't chancel after only 2 episodes

At least air everything you filmed, what could that possibly cost you?

Bless your heart. You're not very bright, are you?

You don't air the rest of the episodes because you'll guarantee that viewers will flee to other networks, getting hooked on far better shows and never coming back to ABC during that time slot.

There is also the loss of advertising and revenue dollars. However, I read that ABC spent millions to produce the series. So ABC will probably sell the series to Netflix, Hulu, or a cable network to recover from the loss, at least somewhat.

ABC will never compete with the other networks for that slot. This show had their highest ratings for that slot 10pm for ABC Wednesday and it's being replaced by Beyond the tank which has lower ratings than this show this season. So it's not like they are trying to get higher ratings compared to Chicago pd and NCIS during that time slot.
It's as the last post stated - Production bit off more than they could chew with advertising on the national level. Period.
Also national network audiences are content with passive run of the mill programming Medical police and court dramas with a mix of reality tv is where they like it. Cable audiences WERE flocking to ABC during this spell so yes we'll go back to our Vikings Spartacus Thrones and other sandal period shows on cable or on demand before we switch to anything else on local tv. Its unfortunate because ABC had something here.

This guy is right. I think Abc was acting on a more sinister plan executed by most tv shows lately: A plan to remove all biblical shows from television.

Its not good business because they never even give bible shows a chance anymore! Saw how fast ABC ditched this one? I never saw such a carnival act and its all due to the athieists in hollywood, iching to discard all bible shows.

They have so many crappy reality shows, soap operas and other junk on tv that are absolutely horrendous in ratings, yet they keep this junk alive. Yet after two episodes, they
re ready to ax a bible series? Very crafty hollywood!

I'm an atheist myself and I loved the show. I'm actually very fond of biblical themed shows and movies. The Messengers was another one I enjoyed that got cancelled. All theologies are filled with wonderful stories and legends that anyone can enjoy. Unfortunately, there are the "angry atheists" that feel the were taught to believe a myth their whole life and feel betrayed. That being said, I do hope this show gets picked up by netflix. It was beautifully done and had the start of a fantastic series. Now hopefully Lucifer gets another season.

I'm an atheist as well and also enjoyed this show. I'm waiting to find out when they will release the rest of what they filmed. The situation is pretty ridiculous and I've never seen anything quite like it happen before.

It's not "sinister" to remove biblical shows from television. It's good business sense. Since only the least-educated and least-intelligent segments of the population are interested in those bizarre, inconsistent, contradictory myths -- and unintelligent viewers are the least attractive to advertisers -- networks are simply doing the smart thing.

What a weird post. I'm not religious, but America is full of religious people. Lmao at thinking advertisers only want to appeal to atheists. If that were the case, they would go out of business in a hurry. Companies care about one thing; making money. If they can advertise somewhere that will help them reach people that will buy their products, they will do that. The United Arab Emirates is an extremely religious place where stoning and flogging are still legal based on the government's Sharia law interpretation. Yet this has not stopped numerous American businesses from going there.

This is why I am reluctant to watch shows on the major networks anymore. They are quick to pull the trigger just as I might be getting into it. Cable commits much better in my opinion and will at least finish a season and usually renew at least once. Then again I never committed to a time slot, just a show. I may be in the minority.

reply

I agree, at least cable shows let the show finish out for the season
