this is because of it is based on true events and all knew what would happen in the last ?

Same opinion here. I felt the movie cared more for Akshay Kumar rather than the event. I found it good and bad in equal terms. You can catch my review here - http://letterboxd.com/waphire/film/airlift/

You know I see your reviews and all I can see is negative comments even on bahubali.. So it doesn't surprise me that this movie is not great according to you and by the looks of you, you're more like a salman fan. So wait for sultan and don't comment

Absolutely. It's great when you compare it with other Bollywood films. But it really ain't that great. It's an OK movie, deserving of say, a 7.

I agree with the OP. I gave the movie an 8. The acting was generally good (especially Akshay Kumar) and several sequences were well done.

That said, the two songs were completely unnecessary. The subplot with the Kuwaiti woman was a rerun of the "humanity transcends race" cliché. The fight sequence with the Iraqi soldiers was laughable, especially when the bus-full of Indians came down the slope in Lord of the Rings style. The raising of the flag in slo-mo, accompanied by a song that hammers in the message that India does a lot for Indians, irritated me to tears with its corniness.

Oh, and the audience is supposed to believe that a joint-secretary in the Indian civil service has no office, not even a cubicle, but a desk space? Give me a break! Do the filmmakers even know how senior the position is?
