Matt's Girlfriend

I'm really loving this show, all the characters are great. All of them except Matt's girlfriend. I don't think she really fits in with the storylines. I know she's knew to the family but I find all the scenes she's in boring. If this does go on for more seasons I'd rather Matt have a new girlfriend.

Yeah I was also just thinking during the last episode or so that she's the weak link in the cast or at least the one they never give anything interesting to work with. Which is too bad because that actress was good in her previous show Enlisted (another underrated show) a season or so back.

I could not agree more. I actually really hated this show at first and now I realize it is getting better but she is terrible. I'm also not a huge fan of the kids but the most boring part that I never care about is the storylines with Matt's gf. Definitely a throw away character and totally replaceable.

Last episode (10th) was the best so far! The 2 first stories were hilarious, as was the last one. The 3rd was my least favourite, but still quite sweet.

Besides the writing and actors being great, as usual, I think some of the factors that really improved the quality of this episode were the fact that the children didn't appear (I did not notice this until it ended) and the fact that Matt's storyline was not focused on his relationship with his girlfriend.

I don't know what they're planning for the series future, but considering this, I think it would be good if Matt's girlfriend was gone, or was given better stories.

Overall this show is really growing on me, it's finding its place :)

Yeah, Matt's girlfriend isn't the best written character, but it doesn't take away from the actress at all. The writing should be as strong for her as it is for Zoe Lister-Jones. Now SHE is incredibly funny - she makes that show.

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked.

Agreed!

I think it's more the writing 'cause Angelique Cabral was pretty good on Fox's cancelled comedy Enlisted (2014).
