Re: Gina Carano

I rented this just to see her. She's extremely hot and attractive, but I can't get over how horrible she is on the screen. She can just stand there and look bad. Someone needs to send her to acting school. It could only help.

Then you add Kellan Lutz to the mix. He's almost as bad as she is.

Yes, she looked very uncomfortable, like it was causing her actual physical pain just trying to act and deliver the lines.

Kellan Lutz at least seems more human, if you ignore the shiny Ken doll complexion and over dyed and processed hair, but he is not a good actor and certainly not a leading man.

I thought she would make a good Wonder Woman... but she can't act worth a damn. Even Rhonda Rousey acts better than her.

She looks less uncomfortable in this than in Deadpool though. Maybe because that movie couldn't even take itself seriously, which is what made it so awesome.

Is it have to do with her speech or what? Steven Soderbergh actually put her in one of his movies and I could not believe it. She was not too bad in that one, so maybe she got many "takes" and "acting" advice from him during the shoot. Her subsequent films have been plain awful including this one. Like someone said, she looks uncomfortable and it looks forced to me.

reply

She was ok in Deadpool for all of the 5 lines or so of dialogue she had.

It's her delivery of lines... they seem almost like she's reading them for the first time off a teleprompter... and that's what the directors goes with.

reply

Maybe she was uncomfortable because she knew it was going to be a crappy movie, and didn't like having to delivery bad dialogue. I've seen her in other things where she was fine imo. Certainly not going to win any Oscars, but she's a viable action star.

I don't find her attractive or to be a very good actor. It's like she got this job because somebody owed someone a favour or something. Not that it matters, she wasn't the worst thing about this train wreck of a movie.

I would disagree and say she can act, she carried a whole film in "Haywire" no problem; but what was there left to act in this movie? There is just no intensity, no character development. There's just one line of character description and a couple of lines of cliche-laden dialogue in this thing.

'Extraction' is cringeworthy despite having Bruce Willis, or maybe even because of him. I suspected this movie was going to suck as soon I watched the graveyard scene, in which Lutz was a dick about becoming an agent and Willis was a dick about Lutz not having saved his momma back in the day: totally artificial! I knew it was going to suck as soon as they inserted stock footage from Prague just as eye-candy, even though that location mattered not at all as the rest of the flick took place in some Newark back alley.

And what's with the sore-eye exposure after-effects anyway?

'Extraction' strikes me as the work of a bunch of people who's only done music videos so far. They may know the basics of filming but there's no vision in it, no art, apparently not even a desire to really entertain or thrill an audience. It's ready-made stuff like those sweatshirts with "1976 surfing club"-overprints you see in the discount stores.
