Not Pakistan.
I understand the story takes place in an exaggerated reality and is completely fictional. -but judging solely from the trailer, i hope that such an inaccurate depiction of Pakistan is somehow contextualised within the premise of the film and isn't just so, because the filmmakers, with their millions of dollars in budget were too lazy/ignorant to look up what life really is like there. I mean at least do a simple google search about where most of your film is set. I can understand why filmmakers would be hesitant on travelling here themselves, but its no excuse to misrepresent a country with its own language, culture and people in such a blatant and misleading way.
A few discrepancies can be ignored of course, but what i saw in the trailer was completely not Pakistan. It wasnt even remotely close. In fact it looked like some arab-middle eastern country. Everything was off, from what the place looked like, to what the people were wearing, to how they spoke, to the general atmosphere. There is no desert in Islamabad, theres nothing that remotely resembles a desert in Islamabad, in fact the nearest thing you can even call a desert is hundreds of miles away. Yet- the trailer depicts Islamabad like its some place in the middle of the Sahara desert.
Im tired of hollywood mustering up every negative stereotype they can think of about this part of this part of the world, throwing it all together to make this imaginary land that they use for every movie thats ever been set here. Its not funny anymore, Its just pure ignorance and it has to stop.
