Why did it jump the Shark (and other fishes) in the very end? [spoilers]

Obviously I don't expect for this to have a second ...chance(season) but IMO it didn't have to jump the fish (shark) in its final moments.

So Otto transcendent himself as a virtual conscience? (What, How, Where? in his final moments in the jet?) ridiculous.
And Prichard still lives in the vicinity of where his family lives and hangs-out in the same chinese bar?
Until what? Until he becomes ...violent (like he was a calm person in his whole life, past and new!) and that's because Otto observed a fish which has 1 gram of brain? Preposterous!

Second chance seemed like the usual police procedure drama with a "special" consultant, but in its short course overpassed its formula and improved somehow.
But with this ludicrous final 1 minute, it most definitely jumped the shark.
The producers should have end this in any other way. Even killing the Sheriff, or marrying him and happily ever after with Mary, instead of this crap.

And how Otto end-up under the same tree Connor Graff was hanging? That couldn't be possible even if you wanted it like that, even with the most precise calculation.

Hasty ending. Uneven and ridiculous.

i definitely didn't like the part where it's revealed Jimmy (and i assume Alexa as well?) will turn UBER-violent.

i also hated that the writers had Mary basically abandon Jimmy (and Alexa to a point) just after the success of the tank working for him. i can see her going away for a while to grieve and return Otto's body to their childhood home/location. but the fact she just stayed there went against everything that had been developing between Mary & Jimmy.

and i agree w/ you 10000% when you said...

"The producers should have end this in any other way. Even killing the Sheriff, or marrying him and happily ever after with Mary, instead of this crap."

i don't even understand why they had the "Jimmy/Alexa will turn VIOLENT" part in there since Fox pretty much cancelled this show after like 1 ep. the writers of the show must have known there would be no 2nd season so there's no need for any twists or cliffhangers.

It was ANTI-CLIMACTIC.

After all the changes Pritchard went through to improve, he is going to end up like Albert Linn?? WTF??

And the whole silliness of Duval spilling the beans, and declaring Pritchard dead again, in order to force Pritchard to get out of town, seems almost evil (like Otto).

Furthermore, Looking Glass apparently went bankrupt in a couple of weeks, and Mary just kicked it to the curb to be an childcare worker in India???

And considering that Otto had made several freaks in his lab, there are no other regeneration machines? What if the only one breaks down??

Arthur got deleted so that Otto-Mac could be calling the shots from beyond the grave??

The two guys falling out of the plane was pretty stupid too, as I am guessing Connor would have strapped himself in, or had a ready pilot on the plane, so he could spend the whole ride making love talk to OTTO the NEEDIEST PERSON IN THE WORLD.

Considering that Connor was another billionaire, his security staff of two thugs and one pimp was LACKING.

Yeah, that was such a ridiculous ending. Especially since they've actually been experimenting on humans, and he's basing this all on a last minute test on some fish? And what about the one-in-a-billion genetic precursor that is required for a successful reanimation? That fish has it too?

They know their human trials work because they could talk to them, they can ask them about things they knew in their previous life. How did they know they restored the fish's mind? Maybe the reason their fish became violent was because of their apparent other experiment of teaching a fish to speak English?

Did that fish also reconnect with its estranged children, solve crimes, and fall in love with a beautiful and intelligent Indian fish before it became violent?

There was absolutely no need for that ending.

Calico Bubble-eye goldfish all have the precurser gene for regeneration, and mad scientists have been reanimating fish in movies, since the days of GODZILLA.

Yeah I was disappointed in the ending also. It was going quite well until just after Duval received the text from Jimmy.

I'm guessing that maybe the next 2 episodes were already written and that's why we were left with somewhat of a cliff hanger. It still says that there is an episode 12 and 13 here on the site.

That will be #1 and #2 of the next season, if there is one.

This was definitely a season finale cliffhanger, not a 3rd-to-last episode in the season cliffhanger. If they wrote 2 other episodes, they would've likely been "case of the week" episodes that took place somewhere within the first 9 episode where Jimmy and Duval solve a crime unconnected to the season's overall arc, and someone decided not to produce them at some point.
