British Accent

Am I the only one who hears Kazinsky's natural accent come through on occasion? Usually when he is speaking in a soft conversational tone.

reply

No, it's slipping regularly. He's even conversing in his English accent for a few lines. He's also got about two or three 'American accents' he's using in the show.

reply

It comes through quite a bit.

reply

Glad I'm not nuts. I don't usually start a show until there are 3-4 episodes available at once, and by then someone has commented on almost everything and I didn't see one other thread about it.

reply

it happens so often i think it's on purpose, like it's hinting at pritchards ' old persona/ new self in control at the time.

Like on some close up shots they have a bit of cgi trickery to make the old and the new merge slightly.

reply

That is a good theory!

I think the threads on this are mostly on the actor's message board. Here's one discussion that I participated in, but it looks like there are a bunch: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4378456/board/thread/248273910?d=253170382#253170382

American accents are clearly just not his forte.

reply

After the pilot I think he gave up on trying to conceal it at all.

reply

I was just about to start a thread about this very thing! Kazinsky controlled his accent well in the pilot, but it has been slipping more and more. I mentioned it to my wife in ep 3, "From Darkness the Sun", and ep 4 "Admissions", he's all over the place.

reply

If you rewatch the pilot you can hear him slip, I wont tell you where. But it is a couple of lines and then the rest he does pretty well. I've just finished watching the first episode and will finish the rest of them tonight.

I noticed too! But the show is so good I am willing to look pass that...

reply

For the most part I agree with your statement. I am willing to look past it because I do enjoy most of the show. I put off watching it because I thought it would be really lame. I love it when I am initially wrong and surprised at how much I will enjoy the show.

I am wondering if it is on purpose, if maybe the 1st James Richard immigrated to the US from England. If not they sure could use it as a way to cover up when he forgets which English accent to be using.

reply

Guys!
He is an improved version of the old Sheriff, thus he is starting to use the British accent which is superior than the American!

reply

his accent is most definitely coming through very frequently. it was glaringly noticeable in episode 3 & 4. i love his British accent and i don't know why they couldn't have just had the character be British or something.
