RIP Second Chance, but let's not be sad...

There's next to no chance the show will be picked up, BUT let's rejoice that we got on amazing season. There was no filler, only killer episodes.

Most shows don't rise to such lofty heights, so let's not be sad it's over, but rejoice in the fact that it was so fantastic.

And we got a great ending (for once).

I'm not going to think about what could have been. Instead Jimmy is a hero and lives out his days happily with Mary :D

It was a sweet ride from beginning to end. I don't know what they could do for an encore, but I'd be willing to continue watching. Otto as a computer image could lead to all kinds of strangeness.

"I used to know things. Now I have to remember them."

Fox gave up on this before it aired. A truly unique show that was never given a chance. At least, they ended it brilliantly.

A shame this show was not given a single chance by Fox.

reply

Fox is too quick to pull the trigger on shows like this. They got rid of another one I liked - Human Target with the great Chi McBride. Never gave it a fighting chance either. Same here; this idea did have potential.

reply

Wish it wasn't over. They could have done all linds of things with Otto living in the machine. Haven't futurists predicted that's the future for mankind? Would have been awesome.

reply

Agree 100%. Makes you wonder what these network execs are thinking when making these decisions. I'm sure us simple folk would never understand.

reply

It's all about money and advertising revenue and very little about producing TV of quality.

Sadly, this is the world in which we live :(

reply

Sucks, I really enjoyed it and it definitely had a ton of room to continue.

I like how it basically quoted the Dark Night at the very end though. "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

I guess none of us would want to see Pritchard be a villain though.

While it wasn't perfect, I did enjoy the show and wished the ratings had been better so there would have been another season.

No blah, blah, blah!

I really liked, no I loved Second Chance - usually in TV series there are a few good actors and some who are just along for the ride. Not in this series - every cast member could act, and act well, which is why the show was so believable. I'm more than a little upset it was canceled. I mean I saw Rosewood was renewed, and I'm thinking they renewed that boring series and canceled Second Chance - what-the-heck? I hope someone, anyone who is in charge has a change of heart, maybe they need some time in the tank. It was a great season.

At least it had some conclusion, unlike FOREVER that just stopped.

Funny that you would mention FOREVER because I just came to this Message Board to find out if another one of my favorite shows was canceled just like FOREVER was last year. I can't believe that Second Chance is going to be canceled too. That makes 3 years in a row that a new show I liked was immediately canceled. In 2014, I liked "Almost Human" and that was canceled after just one season. It seems to me that science fiction shows have a very low survival rate on network television (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX).

In terms of the conclusion for Second Chance, I thought it was one of the worst in television history. I wish the show had just stopped like FOREVER. In the conclusion, viewers are left wondering whether Jimmy will kill Mary or she will kill him. Since we are told that his violent anger will emerge just like in the fish, it has to end badly (unless the writers want us to believe that the computerized Otto could somehow cure Jimmy). This episode might have worked if there was a follow-up season, but as a series finale it is very weak.

You are in the same hell as me. I liked Almost Human, liked Forever, and I liked Second Chance.

reply

Jesus, same here. I loved Almost Human, Forever, and Second Chance and I'm extremely disappointed to see these networks constantly giving up on really great sci-fi shows before they've even get a chance to succeed.
