Listen: I love Louis and think he is funny as *beep* but...

... am I the only one who finds his new special painfully unfunny?

Not sure what you were watching. My girlfriend and I were both hysterical throughout the entire hour. Best $5 I've spent so far this year.

And FWIW, I thought "Oh My God" was his weakest hour.

reply

I agree on both your points, I laughed throughout the whole thing and also felt that Oh My God was his weakest hour. Imo this is better than his previous 2-3 specials.

reply

I think Oh My God is his weakest, too. This one ranks 2nd with me after the Beacon.

"My wife, uh, has a very jooozy pooossy."

It's been a while since i watched his other stuff, i rated this 8 on IMDB but it was probably somewhere around 75%ish !! His material was still funny the entire show, but i'd love him to broaden his range a little. His routines seem to cover the same ground, especially his kids, but for a man as well travelled as Louis, surely he can break the shackles that little bit more. Still, no complaints really, he is still at the top table when it comes to standup.

reply

I was disappointed as well. Lots of funny stuff, but the majority had no point didn't really pack much of a punch.

I love Louis and by his standards it wasn't that good... By normal standards it was still pretty funny. I loved the Batman story a lot.

There was bits and pieces here and there that was pretty funny, but overall a real letdown. He was all over the place and didn't really pull it together at all.

And what the heck was he doing with all the low toilet humor and the sex gags? It didn't suit him or his style. He has done waaay better that this - or to be frank - pretty much everything he's done in the, at least, ten years have been better that this.

^This. I understand now this one was meant to be "different" but different =/= less funny. Not really an excuse. This was the first special from him were I started to do other things as he was telling jokes. In particular doing unfunny voices for 5 minutes. It all seemed very low-quality for Louis.

But the bits that were funny were stellar. Maybe another month or so and he could've filmed it up to par.

I'd love to see you in the moonlight with your head thrown back and your body on fire.

I guess his TV series finally takes its toll.
The material of the show as well as the featured stand-up scenes in it are way better than the material presented in this special. Very disappointing indeed.

I think the same. Imho, he is the best stand up comedian out there but this one was a little unfunny. There were a couple of good bits here and there but the rest of it was kinda dull.

reply

Personally, I thought it was one of his best. Had me rolling on the sofa!

I agree with you. There were funny moments, but I quit watching when he was describing the rats on the subway platform. He has really sunk low.
