Eugene *spoilers*

The Scene where Eugene meets the T-birds in the auto shop. He claims that they have no chance @ Thunder Road unless he soups up their car in a unconventional way. But it kept me wondering what he hoped to gain. I mean, the T-birds teased him in a few scenes in the film (e.g. the rocket club poster). So, was it to make peace, test his technology or join the gang (a la Grease 2)? Just curious.
