What is their religion?

Please forgive my ignorance. When watching I thought I was watching a film about a Muslim family. But I see it is shot in Israel and they are Palestinian? Can anyone explain? Thank you!

I'm guessing Muslim. It was never stated they were inIsrael, even though it was filmed there. I'm going with the clues of separating the women (yes I know some Jews do, too), the headdress, the 2nd marriages, the subservience of the women, the mention of tribal customs, the banishment from the tribe. My understanding is a lot of the strict adherence to certain things is prompted by the reality of being banished from a tribe which can be financially devastating to the entire family.

It's about a Bedouin family in Israel:

Islam for sure. The religious language they use in greeting each other is a Muslim practice. Many Palestinians live in Israel and many are Christian. The movie happened to be filmed in Israel but not necessarily where these characters were from.

Thanks everyone. Still not clear though! lol

They're muslim. There's a scene towards the end where the daughter is praying, she's doing muslim prayers. Also they say "alhamdulillah" all the time which is a big giveaway.

There are many Muslim people living in the state of Israel. This family is one of those. In one of the first scenes of the film when Layla goes to school, you can see that many of the students are Caucasian and no doubt Israeli Jews.
