Give the show a chance!!

Seriously, GIVE.THE.SHOW.A.CHANCE! I don't know if any of you realise, but you've only seen the FIRST episode and half of you are already complaining about and saying you don't like it. Most Pilots are crap compared to other episodes. All I'm saying is watch the next 12 episodes (maybe 3) and then decide if it's worth watching instead of watching the first episode and then completely writing it off. There's only so much they can fit/do and can't fit/do in ONE episode. There's 12 more episodes left for more character development, interesting stories etc. Just please give it a chance.

Thank you, OP! People anymore have the attention span of a flea and why networks anymore cancel after an insane short amount of time. The pilot is meant to introduce you to the main characters; get to know their back story a bit. I thought it was a pretty good episode last night.

Thank you. The same people who are complaining and wanting to write off the show after the first episode, are the same people who will be complaining that the networks cancel good shows to put on reality TV shows like the Kardashians or Biggest Loser or whatever. Even if the show isn't great right off the bat, at least be glad it's a real show and not another reality show.

No wonder the network bosses keep cancelling. When they see these negative comments, they yank the show and put on another episode of The Tank, or Shark something or whatever.

The network bosses don't care much about the negative comments but they do really care about ratings. The negative comments are a symptom of bad ratings, not a cause.

I do not know what wildj7 means by "unfit unconvincing over weight can't act can't talk female field agent". Perhaps the reference is to CSI: Cyber Attack. I don't agree with that description but it seems to be the closest fit. My interpretation of what wildj7 said is that we have no idea whether wildj7 is serious.

I'm of the same opinion, mace.

I am a big fan of Criminal Minds; been watching it since the beginning, but when they replay that first episode on ION it always shocks me how far they have come in character development, storylines and filming style.

Recently I read a relatively thick historically-based novel that started out so slow that I was tempted to quit; by the end of the book, it had become one of my favorite novels. Yes, I am older; younger people today, with instant messaging and constant social media interaction, just don't have an attention span to speak of. I agree with the OP:

Yet TV shows 40 years ago typically had little or no consistency among episodes. In one episode of a show, no one knows who the super-hero is and in another episode of the same show thousands of people appear to celebrate the same super-hero. Forty years ago I was saying there was not enough consistency. Now there is too much.

The premiere episode was the same basic plot as CM episode Open Season (S2E21). I guess you gotta start somewhere, and they felt that was a safe route.

Interesting that instead of a Gulfstream like the BAU has, they have a huge cargo aircraft that can carry 2 vehicles with room to spare and a humungous office suite for a passenger compartment. But what happens when they have to go to some Third World country that doesn't have an airport with a runway long and wide enough to land and a support system sophisticated enough to handle such an airplane?

reply

I agree, as well, OP. In fact, I thought the premiere was quite good. I'm
already interested in many of the characters and can hardly wait to find out more about them.

I loved the show last night. Good writing, and a wonderful reference to Proverb 3:3. Way to go - illustrating how the teachings of the Bible can be misinterpreted and then wonderfully brought to truth. I loved the way the writers wove truth in to fiction, and the actors are consistently good. There were some moments when the kids were seeing truth in all the lies that really jumped out to the audience. The moment when the killer wakes up from his delusion was excellent and the detective shows compassion and brings him off the ledge - wow! Thanks for your work!

D-Day grade para-drop themselves and all of their junk ???

I'm sure that would send the backward, surly, corrupt, sexist obstructionist and disinterested local law enforcement the message that they mean business..

The writers and producers should learn how to make a TV series before they start practicing on TV.

They get low ratings and bad reviews, they get fired.

Next series gets a chance.

well, that is the fatal flaw in OPs post, imo...it was NOT a new show at all, it was the old one with foreign hick locals substituted for provincial American hick locals, and they have been doing this show for years.

I don't know if MAD magazine is even still in business, but surely it would be, and it is going to eat this show up..

reply

Agreed.

The sad part is that a few of these writers were in the original series, albeit the original series had a lot more writers. Anyone can clearly see the current writers were not the cream of the prior group.

It feels that someone went on Yelp to find cool trivia for each location as a tourist would, then used that as an outline for superficially and ignorantly display nearly every culture so far in the show.

As an added bonus, we seem (because we are all American deep inside) to be taking over the world as the second language of choice for every foreigner on the show; makes for easy watching.

I tried, but this show is quite embarrassing and painful to watch.

Seriously?
Life is too short for this kind of lame, stupid, unbeliveble uninteresting and very offensive BS. There are so many GOOD shows, why wasting time watch Crap getting - MAYBE , slightly better?

reply

Your grammar is a clear example of why one shouldn't take your opinion seriously. Anyways, if you don't like it, don't watch. Others enjoy it, they will. Pretty simple stuff!

Welcome to the "World Wide Web". IMDb users hail from not only the United States and the UK, but from virtually all around the world. Not all of us write perfect English. (I trust there's no problem when someone uses imperfect grammar to express an opinion with which we happen to agree.) 

reply

Your grammar was great until you said "why wasting time watch Crap getting - MAYBE , slightly better". Huh? That appears to the result of some type of malfunction.

Most Pilots are crap compared to other episodes.

Watch Justified (2010) for an exception to that. 

As for CM: Beyond Budgets, I find it to be highly entertaining. It has offered a lot of great material each week so far, and I look forward to more in the upcoming weeks. 

Four episodes in and the chances are gone. After seeing how bad the Egypt episode is, this show officially sucks. Mae running after the unsub, the slowest one had a foot chase! And not once did she draw her weapon against a crazed killer. This show suchs. Poorly written and executed.

And I'm a huge fan of Criminal Minds, it's sad to see the network trying to live off the fame of the original.
