One of the best movies of the year

Great performances around the board especially from Shia and Zack. Hopefully the trolls don’t come on here.

No troll hear but I honestly wanted 2 luv dis but end up only likin it somewat.

Felt uneven and think it cudve been grate wid a mo seasoned dir. Dis wuz good 4 their lack of exp.

Cast is purrfect. Johnson is a babe and labuff despite his harsh critix is a fenomenol actor. Even newcomer guy is ok but not zebest if I’m bein honest.

Wat threw me off is magical endin @ da ring. Just put dis in another genre vs plain drama.

I wanted dis 2 be a 10 and perhapz expected too mucho but it ended up bein a 6 4 me.

The concept of the movie made me uncomfortable.
Maybe if I watched it my opinion would change, but ehh.

Go screw yourself troll

Wait, the concept of a buddies-on-the-run, one of whom has Down’s Syndrome, made you uncomfortable but you’re just fine with throwing out the “retard” epithet?

reply

Well I'm not practically "just fine" with it but the OP made me angry with his response to my level-headed original comment.

reply

Ahhh, you were angry. That makes it excusable. Being angry gives you license to spew any type of epithet you want, just as long as someone angered you. Rising above anger is never an option.

reply

You are being condescending right now so not like you are better.
Rising above anger is what you do with situations that actually matter, not random idiots online.

reply

Whatever gets you to sleep at night.

reply

Take a chance and watch it. It is hard to imagine someone with Down's starring in a movie, but it works. I think you will like it.

reply

He's not the first actor with Down's syndrome to land a prominent role in a movie or TV show.

I saw Jamie Brewer in American Horror Story and she was great.

My favorite movie in an otherwise abysmal movie-going summer.

reply

just got out of the theatre.
it's so great. not mawkish at all, yet incredibly sweet & funny & genuinely touching.
will surely be one of my favourites of the year.

reply

It's a very basic movie. It "feels good" but lacks substance. If the movie didn't have a special-needs actor starring then you absolutely wouldn't say you think it's "so great."

reply

if you don't dig it, that's fine, but i'm pretty sure you don't have any special access to my internal thoughts, so you have no basis for saying what i would or wouldn't like.

not that i feel any pressing need to defend my preferences, but i can tell you that not only is that not true, it's the exact opposite of the truth. ordinarily i take pains to avoid any film with special needs actors or characters, because they so often are sentimental & mawkish. this film is not. it's naturalistic & funny & genuinely touching without any of the sickly, cloying characteristics that make such films often unwatchable.

reply

This movie is full of plot holes and lacked substance, period. You can choose to believe whatever you want, but clearly, you have inferior taste and your criteria for "good" is subpar, rendering your opinion moot and worthless when it comes to movies.

de gustibus non est disputandum.

keep on trucking, hangloose.

reply

Touche, I acquiesce.

reply

So true, what a beautiful little movie!

reply

Yeah it was great. In my top 3 for the year.

1. Once Upon a Time In Hollywood
2. Light of My Life
3. Peanut Butter Falcon

reply

It's alright, not really all that great or memorable. The movie had quite a lot of plot holes and macguffins just to move the story along.
