One word: UNDERACTED.

The movie was well done and all but what stuck out to me was how underacted it was..
Some of it was really unbelievable.

Really? Which part do you think it's underacted? Because I think the cast is pretty great. Anmalise Basso is really good, so does the girl who played Doris. The one whom I think probably underacted is Elizabeth Reeser, but I still think she's pretty good. Maybe you and I see it differently, maybe you saw it as underacting, I saw it as being subtle.

MANY MANY moments. If you saw your sister talking to herself and writing without looking, you're telling me you would barely even flinch?
Having a guy get hanged in your house and barely even giving an expression is ehhhh
seeing a man who's 6 foot+ around in your house thru plastic isn't just gonna startle you, it's gonna make you paranoid and make you talk about it.

I thought the same thing. It started out quite good but overall the performance was on the weak side. I just didn't believe the emotions the actors were showing most of the time. If that happens you end up being distracted from the movie itself, ie breaking any immersion and that's really bad.

I don't think it's just the actors. I've seen Basso in many things and know she's a very talented young actor. IMO, this director is not very good. This was better than his film Occulus, but he tends to focus more on "atmosphere" than he does anything else. That and throwing really disturbing *beep* into the last parts of his films.

Exactly how i felt!Really underacted!

Especially in the scene when they see the young man hunged in their house their reaction was so not logic considering the situation,They didnt give much importance to the fact that a man was dead in fron of them..
This film gaveme a feeling that the situations occured just to serve the action and the idea of horror that the director had in mind but they didnt serve the actual story or any depth or meaningfull build up.

Well said ^^

I liked some parts of this film but I think you also described its weaknesses very well. It would've been a stronger film had the director paid more attention to the acting and these details, which can be crucial. It's the difference between classics like Jaws/Exorcist (real characters) vs Random Horror Movie of the Week (generic, expendable cast).
