Some problematic episode -

About the orphan boy who searched into trash cans, and picked up the money of a rich man, who unwittingly dropped it on a ground. The comparatively well-off girl, sitting with camera into her oncle's car, preaches morals on him, convincing him to return the money. Very touching, isn't it, Mr. Panahi?

The scene you refer to does not show Panahi's hypocritical morality. It was to reflect the difficulty of Iranian film makers have in depicting everyday life. Panahi's niece mentions that for her school film project, she has been told not to show 'sordid realism', as is the rule for Iranian film makers. When Panahi's niece catches the orphan boy taking the money, it was Panahi's way of showing that such actions cannot be ignored as they are part of everyday life.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.
