Very Good Doc. Except for one big omission.

Really Terrific Documentary except they failed to discuss and mention that there has only been one openly Gay Male performer on the show ever, and it was back over 30 years ago. That was Terry Sweeney who often played Nancy Reagan in drag. There are no clips,of him and no mention of him. There is also no mention of the lack,of any other Gay Male performer even though there are discussions in the documentary about sexism and racism. I also read that Terry Sweeney experienced a lot of homophobia there. The documentary did have a particularly nice and touching segment on September 11th.

I would agree but it was one of many omissions - something that inevitably comes with a limited (90 minute) narrative.

This is film that could have easily been three hours in length and still not long enough (and this comes from someone who hates long movies) or - even better - an HBO mini-series.

Couldn't agree more. This documentary, good as it was, was inevitably (because of apparent time and/or budget constraints) just a tip-of-the-iceberg peek at a show that was just overflowing with characters, memorable skits, musical guests, controversial moments, etc, etc, etc. It COULD have gone on for 3 or even 4 hours--I personally wish it would have, with an intermission in the middle, just like with old classic films like Gone With The Wind. I don't think any SNL fan would have complained. As such, though, we're lucky to have it and I'm glad that a lot of care was taken in its execution--even with things that were left out.
