No. I read an article that interviewed the writer. She got the idea when a child went missing near her. The child was found shortly, but the idea was planted in her head and the story came from that.

All Lifetime movies are based on true stories, didn't you know that?
sorry, that was sarcasm. actually a lot of them are, but they are very loosely "based" on true events.
There's a site somewhere (which I can't remember right now), that I keep seeing on these boards, and it has the actual true stories, names, convictions, etc. of all the "based on a true story" movies.
edit: there's a lot of sites like this if you do a search, but here is just one. Hope somebody sees this, since I'm replying to a year-old post lol.
