The re-enactments are TERRIBLE.

The actors have such exaggerated reactions to everything, it is a joke. I will be totally into the real people talking about their paranormal experiences then it switches to the actors and they completely take me out of the story. I just cannot take them seriously. They have zero acting skills. There is no subtlety. If something scary happens, literally their eyes widen to the size of saucers and their mouths drop open. No nuance, nothing. No attempt to emotionally engage with what these people actually went through and connect to the audience. I feel like there's no respect for what these people went through. It's like watching a bad, direct to DVD B-movie instead of disturbing paranormal experiences that people actually went through.

I am watching "When Spirits Talk" and there is a pregnant woman who has repeatedly been viciously attacked by a malevolent spirit - deep wounds on her legs, bruises, etc. The woman re-enacting her encounters is a freaking joke. She seems completely disengaged with the material. When she screams at the spirit, it is completely over the top. I almost felt like I was watching a campy horror movie made for laughs. But this woman is pregnant, being brutalized by a malevolent spirit and is in fear that the spirit may attack, harm or even kill her unborn child. Then the special effects of the spirit, literally, looked like a drawing of a white guy with brown shaggy long hair and red cheeks and lips. A drawing that was blown up to look large with the joke of an actress screaming. I have never seen such terrible special effects, if I can even call it that, in my life.

I watch every paranormal show I can, from The Haunted to A Haunting to When Ghosts Attack, etc. This is the worst I have ever seen because of the re-enactments. The people telling their stories are genuine and sincere so I gave the show a 6/10 because of them. Get a freaking budget, hire some actual actors who are going to take the material seriously and step up your cookies when it comes to the special effects!
