In the 1st ep last night he mentions that he can't get a job or a good apartment because he has no ID. This didn't seem very realistic wouldn't they give you fake papers if you are in witness protection?

Yes you get a whole new Identity, even put into the police records too, to fool even police, and they usually get a certain amount of money each month as well
