I hope this movie/her performances leads to a win.

Of course it will land ger a nomination, she is BLACK and we now know the oscars will be forever diluted by the PC police.

Do you even bother trying to make sense? Being black never nominated an actor for an Oscar; just look at the nominees since 1929. When Lupita was nominated and won, being black had nothing to do with it - her performance was amazing. She won't be nominated for a bad performance, and I doubt you can find an example of a black Oscar darling who was nominated without deserving.

No one demands a black person to be nominated; all we ask is for black people to have a chance, to stop being ignored in spite of the great work. "PC police" is a bad description of it.

I don't really think so... It seems like Lupita's character is not the protagonist here, so perhaps a Best Supporting Actress nomination is more likely. But the trailer looks like this is a Disney inspirational movie instead of an awards-bait movie. I wouldn't be surprised if this movie has 61% approval on Rotten Tomatoes and end up with zero Oscar nominations.

I thought she was great in this movie; however, if anyone's going to be nominated for an award, it should be the young girl who played the lead or the guy who played her coach. Both were extremely good in this!

Who cares? People are way too award obsessed. You shouldn't do movies to get awards. Just to do good work and get paid for it.

I'm torn between Madina Nalwanga & Lupita Nyong'o - both were excellent
