Why can't Barbara Hershey stop grinning? Is it too much botox or

plastic sugery gone bad? Also, she was Mary Magdalene in The Pension of the Christ with Willem Thefoe directed by Mel Brooks, right? She's familiar with religious elements.

What goes round comes round. Just like a kangaroo.

botox makes it harder to smile jsyk

Pension of the Christ. LOL. That was either sarcasm or a terrible typo.

Willem Thefoe directed by Mel Brooks

Someone isn't playing with a full deck.

reply

Doubt it was sarcasm on that part alone.

The movie was The Last Temptation of Christ by Martin Scorsese. Starring Willem Dafoe.

The Passion of the Christ was directed by MEL Gibson starring John Reese.

She looks the same as she did in The Natural...just older. As for smiling, it was part of the character. Best way to look would be at her interviews, where she's in a more "natural" state.

reply

She's had her face pulled so tight she now has four lips on her face.

reply

That botox stiff upper lip is very distracting.

reply

Well she may have had a desire to play the joker.

Her facial expression is very off putting. The various muscle groups look wrong at times but if someone with a good knowledge of anatomical structures in our body and reconstruction/botox is reading an explanation is good. The smile face is quite literally fixed. Barbara Hershey I remember from The Entity. Another of those semi possession tales based on truth. The Last Temptation of Christ, wonder if she got to see the resurrection of Willem Dafoe's extra limb? I beleive that might leave a fixed smile. The last of the Dogmen, and Evidence of Love. There are other movies I have seen but do not remember her as such. I see from her picture Black Swan that this face was present then but did not look a stretched. An obvious desire to retain a youthful look. Her role in Evidence of Love woudl not have happened with the new face. Bit hard to look mousey now.
I enjoy stories that come from an original. There are many shows out there with individual takes on Angels, Heaven, Hell and devilish workers. Lucifer at present giving me a bit of pleasure. Once upon a time is very clever weaving all those tales we know into a very long saga. I enjoyed DOGMA.
Barbara was not a stunning looker and i doubt she got work for that reason. Why it becomes a reason for facial risk taking I do not know. Getting moles, warts, cysts and other lumps removed I understand.
I see that someone believes it is the characterisation at work. Fixed smile in shifts.
Cannot fault her acting yet as she seems quite cold and calculating. Necessary qualities for the job in hand maybe.
