What "Last Man "should have been...

I saw the premiere last night on NBC. This show grabbed my attention by introducing the main zany characters before throwing them into the main plot.I look forward to watching the rest of the season.I skipped watching ,The Last Man on Earth ,"because of it's misleading title.I wasn't about to waste my time watching a TV series that literally showed the last man on Earth. And before any of you accuse me of being dumb ,I believe in truth in advertising. Don't name a TV series The Last Man On Earth when it features other men. That's just my two cents.

To be fair, he was The Last Man on Earth in pilot. He remained so on the second episode. Luckily he found some other people later. It is like "The 100" meaning something on the pilot, then lost its meaning later. Should "The 100" changed to "The 537"? I don't think so.

The title "Last Man on Earth" is a pun, like the "Last Man Standing" on ABC.

I can accept ,"The Last Man Standing ,"as a pun because the actual premise never attempted to be about a single man standing in a room. The LMOE is different because the original premise is an exact description of the title.IMO a comedy featuring a single character dealing with his loneliness could be the basis for a miniseries.

That's just my two cents.

How is it a pun? I don't get how it's a pun.

As I said in my op, my beef with LMOE is that it introduced a false premise about about a single character. You even admitted that it carried that false premise for a couple of episodes. I wasn't about to waste my time on a series about a single character. IMO it might have worked as a miniseries. If you recall in my op, I said that "You , Me and the Apocalypse," was what LMOE should have been. It introduced main characters first without any false pretenses. IMO the main characters introduced in Y.M.T.A were so well developed that the main plot device(the end of the world) was set in the background. So in addition to LMOE being misleading, Y.M.T.A was compelling because of it's zany characters , not the plot device of the world ending. I never watched the 100 so I have no opinion on it either way.I'm am fully aware of poetic license with film,TV, and book titles. It's very common. In some cases people wonder what the TITLE of a book, film or TV series even has to do with it's plot? However IMO LMOE was very deceptive and not worth my time.

That's just my two cents.

What about Mad Men not showing any actually mad men? And the show Mr. Robot? House of Cards? No card houses present...

simenkummen. You overlooked the part when I posted that the L .M.O.E made an effort to depict it's title literally. You also overlooked when I posted that I am well aware that it's common poetic license to have titles that have very little to do with the actual plot.I'm not a fool just someone with different standards than you.
