Change of actress distracting

I didn't mind at all that 55 y-old Julieta was played by a different actress from 25-y-o Julieta. That makes sense and works fine if, say, the flashback story covers about 5 years of the younger version's life (25-30) and 5 years of the older version's life (50-55), so that there's a 20 year gap during which the audience can plausibly assume that one face evolved into the other. Having the timelines link up and the one actress morph into the other in one instant, however, is distracting and hinders the necessary suspension of disbelief.

I know the two actresses were a conscious artistic (+theatrical) choice, with some symbolism behind the instant change (interestingly, even though Julieta is the one who changes face, the daughter is the one who changes the most in the same period of time) and I am not generally a big fan of the Hollywood alternative (i.e. heavy make-up and prosthetics), but as a viewer I "stumbled" on that moment of change and couldn't fully get back into the movie's mood after it.
