Appreciate Post for the Thoroughness of the Filmmakers

So I recently watch this documentary and one called Misery Loves Comedy, which was meant to explore the prevalence of depression among comedians. Watching the other documentary made me greatly appreciate the thoroughness of this one. The other documentary spends about 20 minutes exploring what was suppose to be the premise of the documentary and then was just filled with comedians telling random unrelated stories.

A viewer could look at this documentary and wonder why it's exploring broader issues, like speech laws in europe and Lenny's Bruce's obscenity hearings, but that lays important groundwork to explain why this is a significant and complex issue.

A lesser filmmaker could have foregone doing all the work of exploring those topics and just filled the documentary with extended random unrelated interview footage like they did in Misery Loves Comedy. So kudos to this film for going above and beyond.

PS God help us all, the world is going to hell.
