Jenny's Dad

Anyone else find it weird that they made such a big deal about him moving back in? I thought they basically asked him NOT to move in with them when they left NJ for St. Charles? Seems hypocritical.

That's one of the things that I love about this show. It has some authentic moments, but there are other times where you're not only pretty sure at least some staging was involved, but whitewashing played a role as well. It's like a poorly hidden, dirty underbelly of unpleasantness and it gives the viewer almost unlimited opportunities to play amateur detective.

The back story could involve a number of different scenarios. The father might not like Donnie (or vice versa), or maybe the father did poorly with focus groups. I think it's relatively safe to assume that Donnie's family doesn't like Jenny, so perhaps the father leaving the show was a result of that. Maybe the father was asking for more money, was let go, and then was willing to come back for a pay cut. Whatever is going on, I can just about guarantee you that we're not getting the whole story.

Agree, the possibilities are endless, lol. But I thought the dad fit in nicely with them, so was actually more surprised that they wanted him to move than they wanted him back. He's a likable enough guy but I really don't want to see episodes revolving around him. They did one last season about him going on a date and it was a total snoozefest.

Interesting, what you said about Donnie's family. Don't watch it regularly, but having seen Donnie's Mom on Wahlburgers, I could see how they would clash.

I feel the same way about Evan. Perhaps the charisma gene skips a generation? :)

So you're watching DLJ regularly, but not Wahlburgers? To me, they're like cookies and milk. I couldn't imagine watching one without the other. DLJ is such a small part of the overall picture. Not to mention, Wahlburgers has no Macky/Evan characters. They have irritating characters like Johnny Drama, but, at least Johnny isn't boring.

I watch it here and there but don't record it so it's hit or miss. His mother gets on my nerves.
