Let me get this straight!?!

Let me get this straight?
The lead character doesn't vote, because he thinks voting is useless. Then he decides to vote, but vote Republican? Okay

Let me get this straight?
The lead character was harassed by the police, yet he doesn't do ANYTHING about it and he doesn't want his girlfriend to go protest the killing of an unarmed youth, AND his father agrees with him? Okay

Let me get this straight?
The father voted for a Republican president that caused hundreds of soldiers to die in an unwarranted war, lost millions of jobs (probably some of his AA friends), and tanked the economy, all because he received a $1600 stimulus check? Okay

Let me get this straight?
All the woman in the show take action, but the men cower like scared babies. Even the brother was saved by his girlfriend from getting beat up. Okay

This show, like it's men, IS WEAK!!!

Are you trying to do some really bad poetry?

reply

No, just pointing out some really weak men. I didn't even mention the weak brother. Not only is he scared to tell his parents about his divorce, he walks in on his former wife having sex with someone else in his own apartment, AND this same former wife has to save him from getting beat up. Who is wrinting theses scripts, someone who hates Black Men? This show has the most pitiful GROUP of Black men in the history of Television. In the past, there would be one cowardly man in a TV show, but to have ALL of the men this weak is really a travesty. This show is a joke, and not in a funny way.

reply

@sun bobby is weak but Jerrod and his dad ain't. They both got opinions & will tell u str8 up when they feelin some type of way.

reply

LaJacquineetra, don't confuse expressing an opinion with strength. The women took action and protested and injustice, while the men stayed home and talked about it ( to make matters worse, Jerrod was previously harassed by the police). If you don't think that's weak, you have never met a real man.

reply

@sunsetinny

very interesting points

reply

@sun I hear u but Jerrod & pops are men so they more use to the profilin than Maxine & mama.

reply

so if you refuse to protest, you're weak?

reply

Showing a moment of weakness doesn't make someone weak. Consistent patterns of weakness does. Not fighting an injustice done to you, letting a woman protect you while you cower and voting for a group that persistently has your destruction as a goal. Yes that's weak.

Hey, I'd never seen this show until tonight. I just caught half the episode and despite not being a fan of laughtracks and such I thought the jokes were decent and the show was likeable enough. I read your points and since I obviously havent seen the episodes your referring to, I think your points are valid. I haven't read any counterpoints, but if that's how these episodes played out, yea that does seem very weak.

reply

At the beginning of the episode, it says the show is filmed in front of a live audience.

reply

Even shows that use studio audiences use laugh tracks during some episode depending on if it got the laughs they expected or not. My friends and I saw a show being filmed that did this. During the initial taping no one really laughed except for during a couple parts but when it aired people were laughing all over the place during some parts.

I guess even a live audience can be dead.

How can you think his/her points are valid if you haven't seen the episodes being referred to? Makes NO sense. You just take some random person's opinion on a message board and go for broke?
