Fake ass Blackish

This show is beyond awful. NBC is absolute garbage when it comes to comedy and this is no different. The days of Must See Tv are long gone for this puke worthy network. A desperate network with 3 spin offs for a show that isn't even finished with its 4th season yet. Pathetic. Blackish is far superior to this "show" and the ratings make that very clear. However, even if the show was amazing, the ratings would still be low most people don't give NBC comedies a chance, and deservedly so. Recent NBC sitcoms that people claim are just oh so good like Parks & Community were both low rated puke piles. NBC is DONE as far as a comedy department and they might as well stick to developing a 4th Chicago spin off. Those hoping "Crowded" has a chance will be disappointed.

I love Blackish so I whole heartedly agree with you here. Also I tried to watch crowded last night and it sucked. I think your right when it comes to NBC and comedy.

reply

Appreciate it. In all fairness, Crowded's ratings weren't a flop last night by no means but the numbers will drop significantly once it moves to its regular Sunday time period.

reply

I disagree about your opinions of "Parks & Recreation" and "Community", but I, too, think this is the poor man's "Blackish".

Annoying the world since 1960!

reply

I mean The Office, Parks And Recreation, 30 Rock and Parenthood were awesome but that's just it.

They cancelled a family friendly show About A Boy just after 2 Seasons.

And they passed on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to Netflix (not that I'm complaining)

But it tells you NBC sucks when it comes to comedy.

I have been watching reruns of Alf. Now that was funny. NBC has just lost its touch

reply

NBC killed "About A Boy" by putting "Marry Me" in front of it.

reply

I disagree. This isn't painfully self-conscious Disney-fied fare like Blackish. This show actually takes on edgy topics. And I say that with a heavy heart as I really like both Anthony Anderson and Lawrence Fishburne. David Alan Grier is such an underrated comedic actor.

reply

I enjoy Blackish a lot, but it's kind of aimed at the Modern Family, "we like our comedy spoon-fed to us" crowd. The Carmichael Show is not only funnier, but much smarter and more socially relevant. Blackish gets some good comedic statements in, but it often feels forced and just isn't as sharp as Carmichael.

reply

Odd because I think this show is forced. It's almost like an "SNL" or "In Living Color" skit.

reply

Much funnier than Blackish.

reply

I like Blackish but I enjoy this show more.

I have EXORCISED the demon

reply

I like this and Blackish equally. I think both are very relevant. I understand the humor in this show. I actually happen to be very good friends with Jerrod, have known him a long time, and while his comedy may not cater to everyone, it's genuine and stuff we talk about and experience every day. So glad he got a season 3.

reply

^I enjoy both shows. I refuse to pick and choose the better show. We have them both. Let's enjoy them while we can.

reply

Why do "black shows" have to all get compared to one another? No one ever compares "The Big Bang Theory" to "Two Broke Girls"! Why can't people enjoy "Black-ish" for what it is and enjoy "The Carmichael Show" for what it is?

Black people ARE NOT all the same. We mostly just share a certain level of melanin... and even that isn't usually all the same.

^Absolutely!

NBC has a relatively long history with good comedy shows. Cheers, Frasier, Seinfeld, Friends, Will & Grace, The Office, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, and Community were all very good. It's kind of true that they've stopped making decent quality comedies around the turn of the decade, though, but I'm still willing to give them a chance going off of their history alone. At least for another few years.

I like Blackish and other Modern Family-esque shows but this seems to have more edge so I'm definitely gonna give it a chance. I just hope it's not too preachy.
