Re: finding the lost city

He sets it up as a fact that he's actively seeking this lost city. But they turn around at another city that is in ruins because their "supplies were low." I think he knew the whole time that he was going to turn around at that city. He heard that the city was well known but that major parts of it were still 'under the jungle', so he knew he could make it look like he discovered something because most of it is covered in vines. Sorry, I know these shows can be low budget, but come on, if his mission was to find that lost city (sorry I can't find the name he called it anywhere), he certainly would have been better equipped. If nothing else, he knew he was setting himself up to fail, but knew he had an ace in that other city's ruins.

I guess one thing to consider is that there are actual, serious explorers who have gone out into the wilderness to find something and have had to turn back due to lack of supplies. Sometimes, you pack an amount of stuff thinking things will take you so much time, and then you find yourself running out really fast. Maybe your group wasn't careful enough and ate/drank too much at the beginning of the trip. Maybe there just weren't enough supplies in the first place.

It's possible that it was staged, it's possible that it was all for dramatic effect. We'll never really know.
