Audra McDonald is brilliant. But, you need to know Miss Holiday's music, and a bit about the many struggles of her life in order to appreciate this teleplay, and McDonald's performance.

Actually, I'd recommend it to anyone. I didn't know much at all about her life, but when I came across this about 10 minutes into the running time, I couldn't turn away. Her performance is so singular it's arresting. Afterward I researched some points in order to understand better, but I think that I appreciated it as much as most others could.

I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I'm hoping HBO will release it soon on DVD or Bluray.

Does anyone know if this is going to be on TV again soon? I missed it! What channel was it on ?
