7/10: Creates some tension in difference to most modern horror

7/10
Came across Billy O'Brien with Scintilla (2014) which i early rated at a 5, this is clearly an improvement, with a few tweaks it could have been an 8 (take note that I am NOT a horrorfan, I'm not easily scared but often horror movies fails on some element being out of place in my view).

In short/long:
This is a horror/crime/thriller that builds tension quite well. Snowy landscape, dark settings, not complete certainty about who is the killer and a decent suitable subplot that strengthens the movie. The movie also offers two points of views which is refreshing. The closed ending ruins it somewhat, with a more open end the subplot might have felt incomplete but it would have kept the tension of the movie.

Pro's
• Tension
• Christopher Lloyd
• Max Records (which you will see more of in the future) - most known from Where the Wild Things Are (2009) for those who think he looks familiar.

Con's
• CGI (not extremely bad but had been better left out of the movie.
• Closed ending

End notes (Spoiler contains none descriptive key elements that will impact viewing experience):
The subplot is easily identifieable if you keep an eye open, the main character is balancing on the edge (as described) and avoids it by retaining love as connections to other people.

Ignorance is only a bliss if you haven't reached awareness.
My imdb posts are getting altered.
