Made me lose faith in humanity...

So I went to see it in a Multiplex cinema today, the very first showing at a prime viewing time on its opening day. So I expected big numbers and pre-ordered my tickets. Turns out I dident need to since there was only four people (including myself) in the cinema. What a disappointment, how or why was there only three other people, where the fÜck is everyone?! this movie was fantastic, it was funny, sad, beautiful and yet the cinema was near empty. What are people seeing instead of this? WHY arnt they seeing this.

Im done.

Things like this are why great original movie projects are sacrificed for tired squeals and re-makes. People not supporting movies like this is just bad for cinema as whole, it just encourages the bad remakes and squeals since they are more of a 'safe' investment. and Its not even like this wasn't advertised or known because I myself have seen several ads on prime time TV. Its so disappointing that this is happening and the worse part is that its our own fault as viewers

I just hope that what happen to Ghibli Studios doesn't happen to Laika

Pointing me out on spelling is just one hell of a poor argument..

I'm honestly getting tired people blaming poor box office results on people not wanting to see good original movies.

Coraline, Box Trolls, and Paranorman *all* flopped as well, and these are also movies made by Lakia studios. Lakia has had years to market their films properly, and they've failed each time. The problem is clearly them if not a single movie can do well. Every time a movie does poorly, I'm sick of the "Hurr durr! People only like fart jokes and watered down movies" mindset. It comes off as pretentious and annoying!

There was a movie this year which contained copious fart jokes, called Swiss Army Man. It is the best movie of the year.

Actually, Coraline made a crapload of money at the box office in 2009. Why the other ones haven't, I don't know.

And of the Laika films, I liked Coraline the best. A lot of people are saying Kubo is their best so far, it wasnt bad, but I enjoyed Coraline a lot more.

I did my part today. There were actually a lot of people in the theater, too, and they had some laughs and "wow"s at the more memorable moments.

I did my part too today going to theatre to watch this instead of DON'T BREATH.

Well don't worry too much. You know what it's like when something original and creative gets released. People would much rather see a by the numbers sequel/remake than something new and challenging.

This has yet to be released in the two biggest Asian markets, China & Japan, which I'm sure it will do very well at, probably more so in Japan. Animated films are huge in that country, obviously, even foreign ones with movies like Frozen pulling in 250m in that country alone. With the strong Japanese theme I can see it being very popular. OK so maybe it won't make 250m but don't be surprised if it almost doubles the current box office of 60 odd million.
