If these films keep losing millions
why are they still being financed?
Is there a millionnaire somewhere that doesn't know
what to do with his money?

I've often wondered how this studio does it. Do they make it up later, somehow?
shareEach one of their films makes less than the one before. They're on a continual down slide at the domestic box office, and that's a shame.
Worldwide, Kubo will be the first one not to make over $100 million, and it's my favorite.

this ^... films are a business and of course they don't want to lose money but they also want to fulfill a vision so they take a chance knowing very well they could lose big.. and kudos to those who have the courage to do that.

Money is what determines if a film is successful.
Their income doesn't just come from box office, they do other things at the studio than feature length stop-motion films. Each film probs just about pays for itself and sometimes films are made just to perform in the award circuit than the box office.
But Kubo flopped because audience don't like original movies, they want more sequels like Star Wars getting into double figures, they want more reboots like Spiderman, so new movies never get a look in.
