Who is the school girl?

Who is the school girl in the story and what's her relation to the hero? First i thought she's his daughter, but they've never explicitly said that.

reply

She is just a school girl who keeps on popping in after school and eat doriyaki with other girls from the school, or sometimes alone. They show her mother at the beginning and in the middle of the film- the mother does not want her to study, just go to work and make money as soon as she can.

She likes the doriyaki parlour as she feels a bit like an outcast (all her friends go to cram school to prepare for exams for university, and her mother does not want her to, so she feels excluded), and he is a bit of an outcast because of his past, so I think she kind of feels drawn to the store. No family relations between her and the guy.

In the beginning there was nothing, and it exploded.

There was no relationship. One evening she stopped and went in the same place as the cook to have supper. She had a crush on the boy who worked there and they smiled at each other and were bashful. There were no other customers at that time of evening.

At the stand earlier one of the other girls said the boy was already in high school and older than them.

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else

I am glad someone else thought she was his daughter. (maybe a divorce, a complicated relationship with both the daughter and the mother, at first I was thinking along those liens)

Her character was quite 'underwritten'.

Hi, you said the guy "he is a bit of an outcast because of his past". What did I miss?
Can you please explain this to me?

Thanks

In the film he ends up explaining that before he worked in the Dorayaki shop he had worked in a pub and ended up having a confrontation so violent he disabled someone and was put in jail for it. During the course of the movie it's apparent that he has deep shame over his violent temper and regrets what he did.

Yes thank you .
I asked that question before watching the entire movie.
