I'm confused. can someone explain the movie/the ending?

what is the point of the protagonists bringing the wall down? i know in part 1 the characters said they would love to see the ocean, etc but bringing the wall down to achieve that ocean goal would just mean another direct entrance for the titans.

didn't Captain Shikishima want to do the same thing (bring down the wall) minutes earlier yet Eren & Co. refused to go along with Captain Shikishima?

also it seems like the titans aren't even around anymore. it's like they spent all of their budget in the first movie and barely had any $$$ left for the sequel.

i liked part 1 but part 2 is one of the worst movies i've ever seen.

The protagonists didn't want to bring the wall down completely. They wanted to bring the top part of the wall down, enough to cover the hole and stop the titans from coming in.

Captain Shikishima wanted to bring down the outer and inner wall completely so that the titans would wipe out everyone (According to the wiki, it was so that the government would be forced to wipe out the titans and then they would attack the government to take over)

And the evil General guy wanted to keep a hole in the outer wall so they could control the population through fear but keep the inner walls in tact
