This documentary is an absolute masterpiece of film-making. What an extraordinary woman Nina was and what a life she led. Not only does this film document one of the most important artists of the last century, it also captures the horror and turmoil of the civil rights movement. I am blown away by this film and Liz Garbus can not be commended enough. A must see!

Agreed 1000 percent! It's nominated and I'd love to see the film win.

I've always known about Nina Simone, but I never knew what happened to her. And I didn't even know she died, dammit.

I hope kids see this doc on Netflix, and hear her songs.
