CGI

Was there any CGI (except of transitions)?

It is hard to say. I discussed this with a friend of mine whom I watched the film with. We agreeed that there were certain points in the film where we just weren't sure whether we were seeing the entirely real thing or not. But mostly it was a transition thing, I think.

Also, it would be interesting to know how much of the sound was real, and/or if any of it was actually foley.

Still a most see-worthy film though.

I feel like there was at least a little CGI in some parts. There was also most likely a lot of staging with trained animals, possibly even on sound stages or in controlled environments and many editing tricks. Still a good watch, even though I spent much of it thinking "that definitely didn't happen naturally."

When I was a child I went to this wildlife park somewhere in France which had European animals roaming around in closed-off, but large and natural forest/grass areas. It was accessible by car and you could just drive through it and look at the animals. It reminded me a lot of some of the scenes in this film so I wouldn't be surprised if they filmed some of it there (or in a similar park).
