Just a small taste of their charity:

$10,000,000 donation in 1975 to Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
$3,000,000 to the St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Shelter in San Diego in 1986 and $25,000 to Rachel’s Women’s Center (homeless women) in San Diego in 1984

A bit on the Ronald McDonald House:
Worth magazine named Ronald McDonald's House Charity one of "America's 100 Best Charities" in 2001 and 2002.

The U.S. Green Building Council certified the Ronald McDonald's House Charities of Austin and Central Texas (RMHC-ACT) with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification, the highest level of sustainable building in the nation

I'm sorry, but ray Kroc was a total *beep* and his "philanthropy" was a way to ingratiate himself with the establishment and assuage his guilty conscience for all his underhand dealings!

citation?

What he did to the MacDonalds says it all on the kind of person Kroc was.

Like one of the two has said, he was wolf, and he was always hungry.

Kroc, Bill gatez and zuckerberg sez redemption

Werd 2 ur mudda, bruddafckka

reply

Not one of them were example of "ethical" capitalism, quite the opposite, they were merciless sharks.

Regarding Kroc the story of the 1% of royalties promised and never given was a sort of legalised robbery, I don't care how much his wife gave in charity, as a human he was despicable for me.

My takeaway was that his *wife* was the philanthropist. Ray himself didn't care one way or he other.

reply

That's certainly the way the movie portrayed it, that his wife was the one giving money for different causes.

I love these fuxkers judging the bastard when his charitable donations positively influenced humankind at a level these fuxking losers could never dream of achieving. You all will turn to dust have nothing but your forum responses while the effects of those donations will revirberate for years to come.

reply

The effects of the company's negative impact on humankind, animals and indeed the entire the planet will reverberate for even more years to come.

reply

So what you're saying so"articulately" is that he did good deeds with the money he stole from the McDonalds....

reply

So Ray Kroc was really just a modern day Robin Hood? Stealing from society to give to... the Ronald McDonald house?

reply

So the ends justify the means?

reply

If we stay locked on analising and judging every tiny bit of the means, we never reach the end.

Also, people who judges other people´s "morality and ethics" often fail to perceive that their own morality and ethics are not an absolute standard.

reply

American history is full of philanthropists who were absolutely brutal as employers and slimy as hell in their business practices. Thomas Edison was a complete bastard. Carnegie was awful. And you can go on and on. Giving a ton away at the end of your life is great, but you know what's better? Being a decent human being while you're in your prime.

reply

Easy to call someone a bastard while enjoying what he worked hard to create.

I suggest you stop using electricity and telephone, since Edison was such a bad person. And looks like Rockefeller was bad too, so stop using gas also.

Or continue to be an hypocritical who thinks it´s entitled to judge other people from your high horse.

reply

These guys are not motivated by money. Once you have your first million you are just using money to keep score. And the game is "Look at how smart I am".
