6/10: Old content in a new packaging

6/10 (2 points for effects)

If you want this described short; National Treasure (2004) meets Tomb Raider (2001) set in settings of (LoTR: the mines of) moria'sque qualities.
There is some symbolism to be had but most centers around the messages in the form of moving away from what china was towards what is US political sentiment today (with the added christian can be/is bad, no added mention of other religions).

If you like effects and can stand a mediocre dialogue and character rationale with forced symbolism then this movie is for you.

This screams Hollywood in more than one way as the characters themselves are even made to look similar'ish to Lara Croft and Benjamin Gates, there are also alot of the old hollywood cliches as loosing someone dear and having emotional issues with it, saving/not saving someone from an explosion with one arm reaching out, one character that shows an uncharacteristic behaviour acted it and was the character "you've come to like" all along and of course the happy ending.

Pro's
Grandure, big backdrops and big scenes in those without loosing the plot.
Effects, some of the surroudings are really well made (not all), tries have been made to intervow them and it's been half by half successfull (a step up from the prequel star wars trilogy). Some of it would have fit right into LoTR.
The movie is made to fit a grand scale, watch it on as large canvas as possible to get the best effect (I would imagine it would be suitable for IMAX).
Strong (in a modern feminist way, somewhat atleast) female lead

Con's
Characters
Dialogue
Symbolism
Parts of the script
Forced rationales of the characters (for a story to feel smooth the rationale of the characters should be rational from their own perspective, this is at parts missing).

Ignorance is only a bliss if you haven't reached awareness.
My imdb posts are getting altered.
