I think it is time

for people of Balkans to move on and not use already-gone conflicts to the past.
Most of their movies are based on previous conflicts. It is kind of not artistic if you overuse an event just to get attention, and/or an idea for a movie.
No offence intended, but having movies propagate a conflict of the past, all the time, it is artistic-soul destruction.
I do not know how long they will continue do this, but they need to test their skills--in movie-making on other society's problems or physical phenomena of our time.

b-qerimi - You may have a point if all movies about or taking place in the Balkans were about the recent or previous conflicts. But if that subject is a major concern of a particular filmmaker and s/he can make a compelling and well-made film about the subject, as I believe this filmmaker has done, then it was well worth the effort. Many times I go to the movies to visit different parts of the world and to understand and feel what I read about in newspapers and magazines. A well-made piece of art can bring one closer to our fellow humans beings' situations, whether those people are on one side of the gun or the other (and people are capable under the right circumstances of being the "good" or the "bad" guys). With the exposure this film is getting as an Oscar-nominated live-action short, many people are seeing the recent conflict in Kosovo/Albania up close for the first time, myself included. It induces a sympathy and empathy that most of us don't otherwise have the ability to experience.

Here is a link to a nice interview with the director, Jamie Donoughue:

Most Americans don't even care about this conflict -- many don't even know about it -- so if this film can bring a little attention to the plight of people not so long ago, then perhaps it can provide a way for people to feel empathy for other cultures.

Well said, Gregoire.

Without you, today's emotions would be the scurf of yesterday's.
