Who says they don't write good roles for women anymore?

Lily Tomlin has the role of a lifetime and I hope she gets an Oscar nomination for this. I didn't agree with the politics but that didn't stop me from loving Lily's show stopping performance, so good luck Lily during awards season.

Unfortunately it's a true indie, not one backed up by huge studios dishing out hundreds of thousands on oscar campaigns so it was always a long shot.

True---like I've been saying, I never heard of this film at all before I saw it, so it's definitely not getting the kind of promotion even the typical indie movie would usually get. The fact that it's about someone getting an abortion pretty much killed its chances of getting anywhere near a nomination for anything.

In a perfect world she would win the Oscar for this role. Incredibly good.

In statistics you throw out the outliers.
As such, even in a forum dedicated to a movie that obviously had a good role for a woman, I still have no qualms stating that "they don't write good roles for women."

I thought Lily Tomlin did an excellent job with the character, but at the same time I found the character embarrassing. Even though she had good intentions most of the time, I felt I would cringe if I was in the same situations as the girl.
