T/S Car Problems

Had 65 Ford product that made same sound as the Dodge did. When ignition switch is turned on, starter whined. Reason for this sound is starter was not engaging in flywheel, thus allowing engine to turn over and start. My Ford had teeth worn down on flywheel. Only one good tooth left. Kind of like my grandparents at the time.

They were saying other things were the problem.
Don't think so.

Fairly easy to fix since you didn't have all the crap in today's engine compartment back then. Half a day with basic shade tree mechanic tools and job can be complete. May have to go to local rental center for a pulley to remove one item. Most mechanics won't just have one of these laying around.
Good luck on finding a flywheel!!

Or t could also be a starter solenoid, which is actually much more likely than ground down flywheel teeth. Starer spins but does not engage to the flywheel. On a Ford it was very easy, as the solenoid was mounted on the fender well, and it was not an integral part of the starter, like it was on a Chevy. 15 minutes and some very simple tools.

Great-Grandpa was a Keystone Kop. I'm not quite so serious.
