Wow, a well-written, inteligent and funny american comedy!

Something you don't see often, nowadays. From the director of "American Pie", of all people. Good movie. Simple, but not dull. Clever, but not quirky. A great lead performance, but not flashy. Short running time, but feels just long enough. Great comedic drama.

This is a small movie, not quite even 75 minutes long. All the characters are angry and upset the whole time. It really isn't entertaining, as far as my wife and I are concerned. Had we known more of what it was about we would not have watched it.

The story isn't particular interesting, and the script isn't particularly well written. Basically it is a bit more than an hour of Lily Tomlin's antics and for someone who likes that then it is worthwhile. My wife and I didn't find it particularly worthwhile and would never recommend it to any family or friends.

I thought it was great! Funny, poignant and entertaining. I've seen it twice and look forward to a third viewing! Lily gave an Oscar nom caliber performance, as well as Sam Elliot! I know the subject matter can be controversial and divisive, but I hope those with an open mind and heart will appreciate any enjoy this as much as I did! :)

I agree. It was smart and entertaining.

I just saw it today. It's one of those films I see and wish wouldn't end. Loved it!

It's a brilliant film. The characters are rich and we'll developed. The topic was fascinating.

Bored now.

Saw it yesterday and was pretty underwhelmed by it after reading the raving reviews.

Lily Tomlin did her thing. If you're a fan of her, you should definitely go see this movie, but other than that it just wasn't as smart as people make it out to be. The humor felt forced at times. I remember thinking, when they are at Sage's boyfriend's place, that in a cliched Hollywood comedy, the grandma would now hit the boyfriend or something to that effect. Oh well whaddyaknow? :/

I laughed (more chuckled) only a couple of times. On the other hand it lacked enough drama to make me really feel engaged.

I didn't hate it, but found it to be surprisingly mediocre.

Watched 'Grandma' for the first time just last night. Completely agree with the op -- this film was a breath of fresh air. It was, paradoxically, quite a profound film in spite of being uncomplicated. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and felt all the cast gave strong performances and had great chemistry.
