Why give away 5 millions for nothing?

This show is getting more and more stupid.

Why would Axe give Wendy 5 million dollars for being sloppy with her computer and treating security like a seven year old? Or was it because she didn't understand the damage she's done? Or was it because she never seems to be working with anything? Or was it just because the writers have no brains? Or is Axe the most stupid man ever lived?

reply

The damage she'd done? Yes, he's an innocent Victim LOL

It was a sort of a apology for his accusation and betraying her, after he accused her of leaking the info and showing her the evidence he gathered against her for a long time. He felt bad and was sorry as much as he could be, anyway. That fact that he was surprised when she quit tells you how far gone he is

Because Axe should have trusted Wendy in the first place. That she would never compromise her position and integrity no matter what the cost. First Axe tried that fake SEC raid, too see if Wendy would give up her patient files and she didn't budge to the fake SEC agent. Chuck even asked her if she could provide information to put Axe in prison. The last straw was when Axe showed his Trump card too early and told Wendy he was spying on her and could see all that S&M stuff she was ordering online, as well as Chuck confessing he was followed by Axe's henchmen to the S&M club. Wendy realized that she would be caught in the middle of the two men forever unless she got out. Hell you could summarize Wendy's morals when Axe offered her $15 million for the recording and she turned that down. Even though she will probably get divorced down the line anyway.

I at least see a fling with the headhunter guy

Chuck could be living life like Axe if he took the Partner Position at that private law firm at $8 million a year doing nothing. Wendy could be taking patients pro bono like she wanted to. But then Billions Season 2 wouldn't be happening.

Oh yeah, I can see that in ep 1, season 2. That actor had a fling with The Good Wife so he might've been hired as that typecast seducer of rebounding, powerhouse wives.

reply

Ha! he also had a fling with one of the main characters on the netflix series Bloodline. He certainly does seem to be routinely cast in the role of the guy who seduces early 40s high-powered, wealthy brunettes.

He gave her $5mm since the recording she played for him revealed that the information that Chuck and his team obtained which led them to look into him bribing cops is inadmissible.

Prior to her playing the tape he was ready to flee the country. That recording will allow him to continue to conduct business and make billions. He hardly gave her the $5mm for "nothing."

reply

I read in another thread he gave Donnies, um "widow" 40 mil. If you have billions, that's chump change. Someone also said the Maserati is 3/4 mil.

reply

He did! $5mm is nothing to Bobby Axelrod. However, my point is is did get something for the $5mm he gave her.

No, it was Repentance for his accusations of betraying him.

He got her silence. Wendy doesn't want to write a book for money and alienate employers and get bad press for axe.

reply

He got her silence.

why would he need to buy her 'Silence"? She never betrayed him in the first place and would not do so in the future.

A maserati is like 200-250k for the higher end models, he was pretty cheap there ...

reply

He needs her for 2 reasons. The first is to keep tabs on what her husband in up to and the second is that he really needs her therapy sometimes.

reply

My thoughts exactly. She was also useful as a shield. As long as she was in the company, her husband wouldn't go full force on them.

reply

Really you think her husband was going easy on Axe with her there? How so? I think Chuck was trying to burn Axe Capital to the ground no matter if she was there or not. And she certainly never tipped Axe off to anything her husband was doing.

reply

Wasn't he making sure she's not in the building, when his people came marching in for...was it Dollar Bill? Yes, I think, now that she's gone, Chuck will open another door to hell for Axe. Making him tear apart his company building was just the beginning of the end imho.

reply

5 million to Axe is like a quarter to most people.

You've all missed it. The slim chance of keeping her was worth $5 million to him.

Most brilliant show on TV right now.

I also have a slight suspicion that the first season may have been in-part written backwards starting with that end confrontation from s01e12. EPIC.

reply

I think he gave her the 5 million as a thank you for remaining loyal. And probably partly as an apology for not believing her.

As others have said 5 million is nothing for him.

reply

I think its his way to say "sorry that I didnt trust you and threw those BSDM pictures in your face". Rich people always use money to make up for their screw ups
