Good movie, but, ...

the primary cast of naive, inexperienced, foul mouthed teenagers has gotten really old, IMO. Once there is danger or an accident, the dialogue will consist of mostly F-bombs and "Are you OK?"s.
And, too much found footage in this one, someone can't be filming almost everything at all times.

Does "immature adults" suit you better?

What I found so refreshing about this movie was the lack of what you described above. At least I thought so. I loved how, for the most part, the group treated each issue as somebody (usually Paul) messing with them. I especially liked how Andy's character stayed completely calm (and a touch skeptical) when the piano started playing and the clowns' heads turned.

Usually these types of movies are too formulaic: Group starts out with sound minds and high expectations > group gets messed with > sanity starts to unravel as fighting amongst each other starts > everyone's crazy/hysterical/remorseful/dead/dying by the end.

Even though Hell House LLC incorporated some of those elements, I liked that they did so in smaller doses and didn't take away from the group's main focus, which was running an actual business of putting together a haunted house for the public.

Pretty much due to they're being a "cast of naive, inexperienced, foul mouthed teenagers". As soon as it hits the fan, the F bombs start flying. I had to watch it in halves. Maybe thirds.

Are you one of those bitches who thinks they are too intelligent to swear?
Mate, adults swear....All the time. Deal with it.
I'm 31 and I swear all the time because life can be stressful....So, get off your high horse and stop acting like you are better than everyone else.

If you think they are "immature adults" because they swear a lot then you must be one miserable, pretentious douche bag.

reply

Yeah they were mid to late twenties and everything about this was the opposite of the norm that captain douchebag described. If he had to watch it in halves because of the F word then he should stop watching this genre.

Hell House LLC actually does fit one of the usual FF sub-genres, but not the one the OP claims. It's not a "screaming teenagers on a lark" movie. It's a modified version of a "fake ghost-hunters encounter real ghosts" movie. The granddaddy of this category is Grave Encounters, a move every FF enthusiast should have seen already. If not, go watch it! It's great!

Hell House
is not quite GE-level good, but it's very creepy and atmospheric. I thought the acting was fine and natural. I didn't hear any stilted delivery and very little overacting, so I'm not sure what the complaining is about there. The same applies to the language. I didn't notice an unusual number of F-bombs for the genre, or indeed for any movie about young adults in a tough situation that isn't a family-oriented film.

If you like found-footage horror, HH is well worth seeing. If you don't, don't watch it.

What are you talking about? There were not teenagers in this film, they were all late 20's and they didn't act naive or inexperienced at all.

reply

Agreed. They weren't teenagers. I thought that was pretty evident.
